How the Virtual Kaos Publisher handles data

This policy covers the Virtual Kaos Publisher, the tool that posts our products to our own Pinterest business account. It does not cover Etsy's or Pinterest's own platforms; see their privacy policies for those.

What the Publisher is

Virtual Kaos is an independently operated print-on-demand shop selling on Etsy. The Publisher is a private tool we built for our own business. When we publish a new product to our Etsy shop, it creates a Pin for that product on our own Pinterest business account: the product's mockup images, a title and description, and a link to the product's Etsy listing.

It is not a public app. It connects to one Pinterest account, ours, and no one outside Virtual Kaos uses it or signs in through it.

How it connects to Pinterest

We authorize the Publisher through Pinterest's standard OAuth flow, signing in to our own business account on Pinterest's own page. We never ask for, collect, or store a Pinterest password or session cookie.

What it uses

The access and refresh tokens Pinterest issues to us through OAuth, for our own account only.
Our own product images, titles and descriptions, the same content already public on our Etsy shop.
Performance figures for our own Pins, such as impressions, saves and clicks, so we can see which products people respond to.

We do not access, read, collect, or store information about any other Pinterest user, Pin, board, or account. The Publisher only acts on our own account and only publishes our own content. It does not browse, analyze, or interact with anyone else's Pins or boards.

What we keep

Our Pinterest tokens, stored encrypted in our secrets manager and never shared or exposed publicly.
A record of which of our own products we have already posted, and when, so the same product is not posted twice.
The IDs of our own boards, so each Pin goes to the right board.

Beyond our own board IDs and analytics about our own account, we do not keep copies of information read from Pinterest.

What we don't do

We don't sell, rent, or share any data with third parties.
We don't collect personal information from Pinterest users, Pinterest visitors, or Etsy customers through this tool.
We don't use Pinterest data to target advertising anywhere, or to train artificial intelligence models.
We don't scrape Pinterest or access it by any means other than its official API.

Revoking access

Access can be revoked at any time from the app permissions settings of our Pinterest business account, which immediately disconnects the Publisher.

Children

The Publisher is used only by Virtual Kaos and is not directed at children under 13.
